World Water Monitoring DayOn October 18 World Water Monitoring Day (WWMD) was held by America's Clean Water Foundation. A worldwide community check ed an impact to the health of rivers, lakes, and other waterbodies. MAMA-86's regional organizations together with schoolchildren and activists took part in this public monitoring of local water bodies. For monitoring of water the participants from Odessa, Sevastopol, Kharkiv, Nizhyn and Yaremche received the easy-to-use test kits provided by the America's Clean Water Foundation and disseminated by international action organizers Obtained results about the quality of water were reported by participants from Ukraine. YaremchePupils of Yaremche region school took part in WWMD on Wednesday, the 12—13th of October. MAMA-86-Yaremche involved the volunteers from 3 schools: Yaremche (4 participants), Mykulychyn (5 participants), Vorokhta (9 participants). They used their own equipment and equipment that was received from America Clean Water Foundation. Pupils worked with 2 members of NGO MAMA-86-Yaremche. It was really interesting work that can be seen from the photos. The results of the activity are following:
It is seen from the tests that the water in our rivers is of good quality. Sevastopol"MAMA-86-Sevastopol" together with pupils of Sevastopol city organized 3 days field environmental lessons at environmental field center Kordon near village Peredovoe on Baydarska valley, in Crimea. 32 pupils took part in these lessons. As a part of these field lessons children monitored the state of 3 water bodies located near or on the territory of Kordon. This action was a contribution of local schoolchildren into WWMD. Children tested water in the lake, small river Urkusta and in the Kordon well. They used the equipment of the center and express-tests that was provided by organizers of World Water Monitoring Day.
