MAMA-86 Chairs from Yaremche and Sevastopol Exchanged their Working Experience Print

captionA working visit of “MAMA-86-Sevastopol” (Crimea) Chair Tetyana Herasymova to her colleagues from “MAMA-86-Yaremche” (Ivano-Frankivsk oblast) was conducted on 2–3 Dec. 2013 in a framework of institutional development project under support of Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA).

“MAMA-86-Yaremche” Chair Marta Korchemliuk has presented the experience of her organization’s activity in the environment protection working groups in a civic council to the Yaremche City Council as well as in the Carpathian National Nature Park.

Tetyana Herasymova discussed preparation of a pilot project aimed at testing of instrument of self-evaluation of the access to the water and sanitation resources, which was launched in Sevastopol in 2013 and is being planned to be conducted in Yaremche.

Participants of the meeting also have conducted water sampling out of Prut river on the altitude 890, 670 and 613 meters under sea level and also visited Mykulychyn village, where dry toilet and local cleaning facilities constructed in the framework of MAMA-86 projects function.

Joint discussion of the future perspective of garbage separation in the town of Vorokhta in Ivano-Frankivsk oblast has been held with participation of MAMA-86’s members and the town’s activist Lyubov Paliychuk. Sevastopol Environment Protection Inspection Chair Zoya Tkachova has consulted the participants by the phone on the issue of licensing of such activity. This joint activity is important for Sevastopol, where garbage separation is also being planned in the Unity residential area.
