Ecologists produced a powerful signal, which echoed throughout Ukraine

On the 28th of November 2005 the First President Hearings "Challenges generated by Freedom" took place in the Ukrainian House.

During the plenary sitting the experts from different spheres made a public assessment to the state development. It is a pity, but ecological component of the state development was not presented in the agenda of the hearings. The public ecological organizations, concerned about such a situation, united to emphasize the importance of inclusion of the ecological politics, as integrated factor and important priority of the state, to the Action Plan of the Orange Government.  During the discussion the floor was given to the representative of the ecologists, that gave for the first time since the beginning of Yushchenko’s presidency the possibility to address the President directly with the request to make a political decision concerning obligatory integration of ecological politics in all fields, that is one of provisions of the EU Treaty. Ganna Golubovska-Onisimova, President of All-Ukrainian Ecological Non-governmental organization "ÌÀÌÀ-86", who represented the interests of ecological organizations, noticed in the speech  "according to the modern standards, strategic actions of the state development should include requirement to the environment protection". She declared that Ukrainian ecological movement  can not allow that economics of Ukraine developed as raw material attachment to high quality, service oriented economics of western countries. "If Orange is real it should have green leaves", — in this way was ended the speech, that was beamed by the many TV channels of Ukraine..

According to the information of the Principle Deputy of the Head of the President  Secretariat Mr. Vasyunyk I. V., head of the plenary meetings, President proposed to the ecologist to prepare their concrete propositions. On Thursday, the 1st  of December, the  representatives of ecological Organizations of Civic Society will gather in the Arhus center to discuss future joint actions.
