Ukraine is a Party of the three conventions on chemical safety: Basel Convention on controlling of transboundary movements of hazardous wastes and their disposal (01.07.1999), Rotterdam Convention on the Prior Informed Consent Procedure for certain hazardous Chemicals and Pesticides in international trade (26.09.2002) and Stockholm Conventions on Protection of Human Health and the environment from persistent organic pollutants (18.04.2007).

The organizers provided information about the decisions of the extraordinary Conference of the Parties of the three conventions to enhance cooperation and coordination (synergism) between them. There the problem of the involvement of civil society in achieving synergies within these international agreements, as well as development of a common approach to the preparation and spreading information materials and holding informational and educational campaigns in the countries were discussed.
