logo-zivi-orgMore than a week Ukraine synchronically with Sweden, India, Peru, Zimbabwe — together with 25 countries in Europe, Asia, South America and Africa — held Go Organic! Go Campaign! — an informational and promotional campaign for organic farming and food for all. The campaign was conducted by MAMA-86 within the Green Action Week with the support of the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation.

Eleven MAMA-86 regional branches have joined the campaign, as well as educational and cultural institutions, business organizations, NGOs and volunteers. Eco-lessons in schools, university lectures, organic products exhibitions, surveys and quizzes, monitoring of markets along with promotional activities on the streets of Ukrainian cities and towns, as well as workshops for farmers — that is not a complete list of campaign activities, which ended on October, 14 in Kyiv with the round table "Legislative Regulation in Organic Food: How to Make it Work?" During the event, representatives of all the stakeholders — producers and distributors of organic products, representatives of executive authorities, non-governmental organizations, including consumer rights protection NGOs — expressed their vision on improving of the relevant laws and worked out practical recommendations.

The Go Organic! Go Campaign! was held within the framework of Green Consumer Weeks in Ukraine and was intended to promote organic food and farming as a part of Ukrainians’ responsible attitude to their health and the environment. Green Consumer Weeks have been carried out by the MAMA-86 Ukrainian National Environmental NGO since 2012 with the support from the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation and in collaboration with various partner organizations.
