Ecological Center “Peredove”
Ecological Center “Peredove” located on the South-West part of the Crimea peninsula. This is the picturesque place in Bajdarska valley, where the endemic plants reign among the lakes and waterfalls. Because of the convenient location of the Environmental Center in the you can take a rest from human vanity, breath the fresh mountain air, slake a thirst in the mountain well or bathe in the clean mountain lake. On a distance of a half hour journey you can reach Black Sea 's beaches.
Till 1997 more then 5000 children and youth took part in the programs, which were organized by Youth Environmental Association “GEYA” and Environmental Organization “MAMA-86-Sevastopol”. We conducted seminars and camps (also for orphans and children of low-income families) , schools of leadership, and international camps of volunteers. On the base Ecological Center All-Ukrainian Environmental Non-governmental Organization “MAMA-86” realized such programs as summer camps and seminars, project “Drinking Water”, “Hygiene and Sanitary”.
Due to the help of the volunteers a lot of constructions were build such as banya (bath-house, summer open pavilion for seminars. Recently all building were repaired; and new kitchen, verandah we re build. We are supporting the principles of sustainable development by implementing the functional models of helium showers, bio toilets, Zibolt' tower, rain-water collectors etc.
Within the framework of the MAMA-86 project “Green Choice of Ukraine” we conducted the environmental seminars for children and youth, environmental lessons (so-called “Forest Schools” in summer-autumn 2004. Participants had an opportunity not only to learn the methods of environmental research, get familiar with wastes separation, but also discuss new ideas and communicate in a friendly environment.
