The round table "The role of education, enlightenment and information in the problem of dangerous wastes and useless pesticides solving in Ukraine"

On February 7, 2007 NGO "MAMA-86" together with National Pedagogic University of M. P. Dragomanov holds a round table "The role of education, enlightenment and information in the problem of dangerous wastes and useless pesticides solving in Ukraine" in which specialists and experts of environment protection and chemical safety, business, NGO’s, mass media, teachers and students took place.

The action holds in frames of common project "Europe free of toxic substances — 2" by NGO "MAMA-86", Ecological group "Idea realization fund" (Bielorus) and Center of environment and sustainable development "Eco-harmony" (Russia), with a help of NGO International Chemical Secretariat (Sweden) and with financial support of Swedish agency of environmental secure (Swedish EPA).

The aim of the round table is the discussion of the most actual problems of Ukraine in the area of dangerous wastes, useless pesticides treatment and the production of propositions by all action members:

• Concerning the increasing of working efficiency of responsible sides and government for solving problems of dangerous wastes and useless pesticides by creating and introduction of national strategy and the plan of risk decreasing from accumulated useless pesticides,with  widely including society on the early stages of creation;
• Concerning the selection and using of effective and ecologically safe technology in waste managing area, including useless pesticides destruction;
• Concerning the participation of civic society in Strategic Approach to International Chemicals Management (SAICM);
• Concerning the forms and methods of spreading of ecological education, enlightenment and information of citizens on the dangerous wastes and useless pesticides problems.

During the round table there will be presented a data base of alternative waste managing technologies, which was created in frames of common project "Europe free of toxic substances — 2".  

Round table will take place from 10.00 to 17.00 on February 7, 2007 in Kyiv, Pirogova str, build. 9, National Pedagogical University (metro st. "Universitet").
