Organic Agriculture Information and Consulting Center in Nizhyn region is now open

On 22nd of February Organic Agriculture Information and Consulting Center started working in Vertiyivka village located in Nizhyn region of Chernigivska oblast. The event was organized by MAMA-86-Nizhyn in cooperation with International public organization Women in Europe for Common Future supported by MATRA — the Kingdom of Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs program.

The Center will provide information about organic agriculture and do educational work on the basic of Vertiyivka and Bobryk villages. People who took part in the Center unveiling believe that raising of public awareness on environmental issues is a real chance to restore  harmony between nature and human being.

Valentina Shchokina the leader of public environmental organization "Mama-86-Nizhyn" spoke about main assignments of the Center. Anna Tsvetkova the coordinator of Cooperation for rural sustainable development project "MAMA-86-Ukraine" reminded about main objectives of the project and informed about results of it’s implementation in Nizhyn region. Solomiya Babyak a representative of our partner public organization "Women in Europe for Common Future" told about public organization "Our Earth" which work on sustainable development idea implementation by producing and consuming organic products in Bavaria. Information on prospects of organic agriculture development in Ukraine and the role of regions in this movement was delivered by the Head of Organic movement federation of Ukraine E. Milovanov.

This event was also attended by authority representatives: regional state administration deputy head on agro-industrial issues M.Boryshpolets assured the present of all-round support of this public initiative on organic agriculture popularization in Nizhyn region.

Village council of Vertiyivka also supported the initiative and gave a room in council premises for the Informational Center. It is planned that the Center will hold consultations for villagers, conduct an informational-educative program for people of all ages including lections for pupils in the schools of Vertiyivka and Bobryk, also the Center will establish a library.   

Taking the opportunity, we addressed the local authority with proposal of further support of organic movement in the region and called for cooperation on the basis of Organic Agriculture Information and Consulting Center in Vertiyivka.
