News of the "Water and Sanitation" program

7—8 February MAMA-86 organized the network meeting on planning activities related to International Year of Sanitation. This year MAMA-86 "Water and Sanitation" program will focused on informational and public awareness on Sanitation and Hygiene issue in the framework of WASH campaign as well as on multiplication of the ecosan toilets in 10 regions of Ukraine. This activity will contribute directely into the improvement of sanitation for the citizents of Ukraine — dwellers of rural and periurban areas. The pilots will be implemented in the framework of 2 new projects in partnership with WECF. The financial support for 3 years project "Sustainable Sanitation, Hygiene and Dignity" will be implemented in 9 regions of Ukraine funded by French fund — Foundation Ensemle with a co-finding by WECF. The second one year project "Community empowerment and local actions on Sustainable sanitation for Safe water and Sustainable development of rural and peri-urban areas of Ukraine" will be implement in 10 regions funded by MFS program of the Netherlands.

On 9th February 2008 the training for trainers and MAMA-86 staff on ecosan building was organized in Kyiv with participation of MAMA-86 trainer — Igor Schokin. The training was organized with a support of Women for Water partnership. You can see the photogallery of this event.
