MAMA-86 is warmly greeting all of you with the World Environment Day!

Established by the UN General Assembly in 1972, to us – the environmental NGO – this day is not only a commemoration day but also an occasion to rethink and reinforce our environmental protection actions.

This year's theme for the World Environment Day is "Think.Eat.Save," dedicated to the struggle against overly draining the nature as a result of our food-related habits. According to the UN, a third of global food production – or about 1.3 billion metric tons annually – is either wasted or lost, meaning that the resource input for the production is also wasted. At the same time, 20,000 children under the age of 5 are dying daily from hunger, whereas the amount of food wasted in Europe alone would be enough to feed 200 million people.

MAMA-86 considers the promotion of sustainable consumption in Ukraine one of its priority activities, and last year it launched a practice of holding Green Consumer Weeks in early October. The concept of this campaign is to hold various awareness events for various target groups to popularize environmentally responsible consumption while focusing on one of important issues of sustainable consumption. This year's campaign will – in the spirit of global environmental priorities – be dedicated to the theme of environmentally responsible and conscious food habits.

We call on all those who are not indifferent to join us and, by common efforts, save the environment for our and next generations!

Sincerely yours,

MAMA-86
