Water as Well of Life – Feodosia Technical School Students Dedicate a Seminar to Water Print

p1020121 tMarch 21, 2013, Feodosia, Crimea — On the eve of the World Water Day, Feodosia Politehhnikum, a technical school, held a seminar on "Water – the Well of Life." The event, attended by 30 students, was organized by Viktoria Matysova, the supervising instructor of the school's group BU 11 1/9 and a member of the MAMA-86-Feodosia environmental NGO.

Seminar participants made reports that covered a variety of issues related to the water resources of Ukraine, Crimea and Feodosia, the role of water in human life, the quality of potable water, and the human right to water. The students also discussed basic provisions of the Protocol on Water and Health and its implementation in Ukraine.

Booklets provided by MAMA-86-Feodosia, as well as an information package developed by the MAMA-86 central office in Kyiv were used at the seminar.

World Water Day, initiated by the UN General Assembly from 1933, is held annually on March 22 to draw attention to the importance of freshwater and sustainable management of freshwater resources. This year's events are special in that they are conducted in the UN International Year of Water Cooperation.
