Anna Golubovska-Onisimova, President of the NGO “MAMA-86”, made a report on “Politics of sustainable consumption and production — the basis of “greening” economy in Ukraine” during the Forum on 21 April. Representatives of “MAMA-86” also took part in the International Forum “ECOSMART-2011” held in the frame of the “Environment for Ukraine” Forum. NGO “MAMA-86” has been officially awarded by a diploma “A participant of a project “Ecology and natural resources of Ukraine” of the Committee of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Environmental Policy, Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources of Ukraine, Ministry of Emergencies of Ukraine and the Confederation of Journalists of Ukraine and by the diploma “Leader of Environmental Performance — 2011” of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources of Ukraine during the Forum. At the poster exhibition “MAMA-86” introduced its long experience in promoting sustainable production and consumption to a society as well as results of its own pilots to introduce resource-saving technologies concerning housing and communal services, separate collection of solid waste, ecological buildings for households and consumer groups. Poster exhibition of the experience of “MAMA-86” in “greening of the buildings”, ecological sanitation and separate waste collection has been supplemented by a poster “Energy efficient architecture: passive eco house”, which was prepared at the request of the “MAMA-86” by Tatiana Ernst — Architect, the company “Architecture and Environment” . The results of the project “People’s Ecolife” were also presented: Web database of eco technologies, concepts of demonstration complex of “MAMA-86” and information-training center. Work on the stand was bustling; more than 1300 copies of printed materials of “MAMA-86” were distributed in 3 days of exhibition. Also on the stand visitors could watch “MAMA-86” short films: “Water is the essence of life”, “Water, sanitation and hygiene for school children of Ukraine”, “Ecological sanitation — for rural schools. Ukrainian experience”, reel and short film about the international “MAMA-86” project “Reduction of acute risks of obsolete pesticides in Ukraine”. Forum participants on April 21 could also see at our stand the newly published books “Green new deal for Europe” and “A Guide for Civil Society Organizations” in three books: “Sustainable consumption and production policies. The role of civil society organizations”, “Assessing the impacts of consumption and production. A guide to assessment tools for civil society organizations”, “Measuring performance towards sustainable consumption and production — types of indicator sets”. Valuable assistance during the exhibition working hours has been given by the volunteers: students and staff of the Department of Chemistry of the National Pedagogical University. 162 representatives of scientific and state institutions of Ukraine, training and educational institutions and centers, university students, businessmen, and citizens of Ukraine who are interested in environmental issues and choose ecological lifestyle left their records and contacts in the “MAMA-86” reference book. Given the wide range of materials presented on the stand by “MAMA-86” each visitor received materials and information that were interesting to him directly. It was nice to hear words of gratitude and know that our materials have been used by ecofriendly residents and representatives of the governmental executive bodies. In addition new associates and future partners were found during the exhibition.
