Recently the project titled “Cooperation for preserving environment of Yaremche region” was held. It was aimed at drawing attention of local authorities, general public and businessmen to the ecological problems on the territory of Yaremche region and responsible attitude to environment among the youth. The project was implemented by non-governmental organizations “Center for social and business initiatives” in Yaremche and “MAMA-86-Yaremche”. The partners of the project became the Carpathian National Nature Park and National Scout Organization of Ukraine “PLAST” (Yaremche station). The financial support of the project was provided by the Democracy Small Grants Program of the Embassy of the United States in Ukraine. Among the most important results of the project became approval of the local program “Improvement of sanitary condition of Mykulychyn village”. Besides that, two volunteer activities on cleaning the Zhonka riverbank and touristic route “Maiden tears” were held. Thanks to them students learnt more about the necessity of careful attitude to natural environment and the UNO principles of access to drinking water and sanitary conditions and advantages of separate collection of solid household waste. Organization of 12 educational excursions in the framework of the project allowed to draw attention of school children to the wealth of nature of Yaremche region, its historic and cultural traditions and to visit the exhibition of eco-technologies, which generalizes 20-ye years of practical experience of Ukrainian National Environmental NGO “MAMA-86” in solving environmental problems. In total, 313 children from Yaremche region and other regions of Ukraine took part in the event. The information and warning signs were established, aimed to remind the visitors of the Carpathian National Nature Park of the careful attitude to the rivers.
