The paper is issued by the “Respublika Mechta” Child and Youth Environmental NGO, a collective member of Ukrainian National Environmental NGO “MAMA-86”. The cartoon was produced within the framework of the “Vykyday Pravylno” (dispose of e-waste properly) National Programme. The “Vykyday Pravylno” National Programme has been declared as one of the main topics for the 11th season of Schools’ Media Project “Vestnik Mechty — Novy Format”. In the framework of the project the heads of NGO departments, as well as teachers develop online and other educational events devoted to such issues as management of solid, toxic and electronic waste. Students actively participate along with adults by creating presentations and videos, publishing articles and news. All works will be included to the exclusive issue of the Vestnik Mechty magasine with a title “Vykyday Pravylno”. On November 4–19, 2013 МАМА-86 implemented the first phase of an information campaign to increase awareness about the dangers of electronic waste, including used batteries. The event was designed within the Project “Public Lobbying of Application of the European Approaches to the Solution of the Electronic Waste Problem in Ukraine” with support from the International Renaissance Foundation's European Program, MTS Company and Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine in the framework of the “Vykyday Pravylno” National Programme.
Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine and MTS Company jointly with the MAMA-86 have been implementing the “Vykyday Pravylno” National Programme since October 8, 2013. The Program envisions storage and disposal of collected batteries. A comprehensive system of waste management is implemented in Ukraine for the first time. At the moment, special containers for collection of chemical power sources are installed in Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast, Lviv, and Zhytomyr Oblast regions. Any organization can become a member of the Program.
