On 10th of October 2012 the Drafting Group on Public Participation under the Protocol on Water on Health meet second time to work on the draft guidelines on public participation in the framework of the Protocol on Water and Health. Government of Romania and NGO WECF lead this work on the guidelines under the Working Program on Protocol implementation 2010-2013. The Guidelines drafting work was started in July 2012.

The meeting participants (about 20 experts from different stakeholder groups of European region) exchanged of comments and ideas to improve the draft guidelines on public participation in the framework of the Protocol on Water and Health.

The meeting agreed the next steps in the drafting of the guidelines:

  1. Experts are invited to send the list of words which would need a definition in the glossary of the guidelines in order to further work with a clear and common terminology (by 24 October).
  2. The consolidated revised draft guidelines will be disseminated by WECF by 2 November compiling the different inputs of experts and the outcomes of the discussion during the drafting group meeting. This document will indicate responsibilities for future drafting.
  3. Experts will submit their contributions to the revised document by 30 November 2012.
  4. The consolidated fourth draft of the document, including contributions sent by experts, will be prepared by WECF and send out by 15 January 2013.
  5. The tentative date for the potential next meeting of the Drafting Group is the first week of April 2013 and depends on the availability of funds. The alternative to meeting can be future work through emails and phone conferences.
