Practical seminar-training “Local waste water treatment facilities for individual households” took place on 10 July in village Lubske, Makarivskii rayon, Kiev oblast. NGO “MAMA-86” and Practical center of natural farming “Ekomysl” were the organizers of the event.

The seminar was attended by 17 representatives including Ukrainian school of landscape art “Oranta”, environmental project “Energy of life”, Landscape Bureau “Artsynerhiya”, organic farming club, eco settlement “Lyubske”, “Water Information Center” and other ordinary citizens that were interested in information about the event.

The workshop consisted of presentation of the theory of solving the problem of sewage treatment in areas without canalization systems and typical solutions of local treatment facilities for sewage treatment in individual households. PhD Zakharchenko M.A., Head of the Laboratory of Engineering Methods of Protection of Groundwater of Ukrainian Research Institute of Ecological Problems, Kharkiv, was invited to lead the seminar. Participants had the opportunity to ask questions and get answers on the topic of the seminar.

The second half of the seminar was devoted to issues of practical construction where all participants had opportunity to see and take part in construction of local treatment facility for waste water after outdoor shower room. All interested participants took part in the construction work. The constructed local shower waste water treatment facility consists of drainage tunnel built of plastic blocks and will treat water after outdoor shower room for 1 family. This system allows you to divert the drains, clearing them through natural processes involving soil microorganisms and transfer treated water in ground water.
